Murder Suspect in Alleged Drug Deal Gone Bad Quietly Arrested on Christmas Night

Police saw suspect's vehicle at his mother's Clinton Township home and quietly arrested him.

The suspect in the early December death of a man who was removed from life support after he was stabbed in a drug deal gone bad, was quietly arrested in Clinton Township on Christmas evening.

Marquis Allen Oneal, 23, offered no resistance when Clinton Township Police Department deputies knocked at the door and arrested him, the Macomb Daily reports. Oneal was reportedly visiting his family at his mother’s house on Quinn Road.

“Our guys saw his car at his mother’s house and knocked on the door,” Detective Capt. Richard Maierle said. “He was sitting there watching TV with his 1-year-old daughter and placed under arrest.”

He is currently in custody at the Macomb County Jail, where he is being held on $500,000 bond.He has been charged with second-degree murder.

Police think the victim, James Edwards Williams, was stabbed on Nov. 16 after he complained about a bad batch of marijuana he had purchased from two Clinton Township suspect who are already in custody. Williams reportedly asked for a refund and an argument ensued.

Williams was hospitalized for three weeks at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens before he was removed from life support on Dec. 2 and subsequently died.

Three other suspects – Belinda Jones, 43; her son, Deangelo Jones, 21;  and Donald Roberts, 20 – are being held pending a preliminary hearing. Their attorneys claim Williams was the aggressor in the fight and they were defending themselves.
