Police Arrest Suspect Who Allegedly Displayed Semi-Automatic Weapon in Gas Station Holdup
Suspect announced holdup, displayed weapon and demanded contents of the cash register drawer before fleeing on foot about 4 a.m. Wednesday. Clinton Township police took him into custody a short time later.

A Clinton Township resident was arrested after he allegedly displayed a semi-automatic handgun at a gas station clerk and got away with an undisclosed amount of money about 4 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities were alerted of the robbery of Speedway Gas Station, 18665 15 Mile Road, while it was in progress, according to a news release from Clinton Township Police. A black male reportedly entered the business and announced a hold-up before displaying the weapon and demanding the contents of the cash register drawer.
The clerk complied and was uninjured. The suspect fled on foot.

While checking the area, Clinton Township Police Officer Thomas Hill located a person matching the description of the suspect as he walked on Contesti Street. He was carrying a weapon when Hill approached him, but the officer was able to take him into custody without incident. He is currently being held for armed robbery pending arraignment.
The suspect was in possession of evidence from the robbery, the news release said.
