Police Seeking Witnesses, Information on Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police say there are no known witnesses to a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of 20-year-old Bobbi Layne Roberts late Friday evening.

Clinton Township police are continuing their investigation into the hit-and-run crash that killed 20-year-old Bobbi Layne Roberts late Friday evening and have asked the public for tips.

The hit-and-run reportedly occurred about 11:25 p.m. Friday on northbound Gratiot Avenue just south of Capital Boulevard, the Detroit Free Press reports. The vehicle fled the scene, the newspaper said.

Clinton Township Police said there were no known witnesses to the accident, but a passing motorist saw Roberts’ body lying on the road and shoulder and positioned his vehicle to protect her until emergency responders could arrive.

Roberts was pronounced dead at McLaren Macomb hospital in Mt. Clemons.

Clinton Township Police are asking anyone with information about the accident to call Police Lt. Raymond Macksoud at (586) 493-7933 or the general police number, (586) 493-7802. The vehicle involved in the accident may have damage ot the right front and headlight area, police said.
