Serial Offender Sings a Familiar Refrain - for the 24th Time

A Macomb County man added another notch to a dubious record Monday. With 23 previous convictions for driving under a suspension on his sheet, he was arrested on charges of – wait for it – driving with a suspended license.

Macomb County sheriff’s deputies stopped Scott Weiderman, 49, of Harrison Township for speeding – he was reportedly driving 39 mph in a 30 mph zone – while driving a U-Haul van Monday morning. the Detroit Free Press reports.

When police asked for his license, they heard a familiar refrain from Weiderman, who reportedly said his license was suspended.

More precisely, it was “administratively denied and revoked” – a step taken by the state because of his lengthy record, which dates back at least to 1985 and includes drunken driving, speeding, fleeing and eluding, and many lesser traffic infractions, according to information obtained by the newspaper from the Michigan Secretary of State’s office.

The offenses occurred in communities across southeast Michigan, including Mt. Clemens, Sterling Heights, Warren, Dearborn Heights, Lapeer, Romulus, Fraser, Clinton Township, Roseville, Detroit, Shelby Township, Bloomfield Hills, Grosse Pointe Farms and St. Clair Shores.

Before Monday, Weiderman’s most recent stop was in Warren in February for – wait for it again – driving on a suspended license.

Macomb County Sheriff’s Lt. John Michalke said the number of convictions is “pretty egregious.”
