11 Dearborn Officers Join Force

DEARBORN, MI – Six new full-time police officers, two part-time officers and three ordinance enforcement officers recently joined the Dearborn Police Department.

The new officers include:

Ryan Alexander graduated from Waterford Mott and started his college career at Oakland Community College where he earned EMT Certification. After two years, he transferred to Michigan State University, graduating with a double major in Psychology and Criminal Justice. During that time, he ran his own lawn maintenance company and worked in the Marine Division of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Army where he served for eight years, ultimately retiring as a Special Forces Staff Sergeant.

Kefah Mazloum lives in the Dearborn. He graduated from Fordson High School and attended Henry Ford Community College and then Madonna University, earning an associate’s degree and a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice, graduating with honors. He was employed as a part-time security guard at Garden City Hospital and worked a second job as a nurse assistant at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield.

Adam Walker attended Oakland Community College and the University of Michigan-Dearborn and received an associate’s degree and bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice. His work experience includes being employed in a private sector security industry at Loomis Armored Service.

Joshua Matschikowski is a Dearborn resident who graduated from Melvindale High School. He has served in the United States Army and has received national awards. After discharge, he returned home to Michigan and enrolled at Schoolcraft College earning an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts.

Kiefer McCollum attended Lake Superior State University where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree. He then obtained a position with the Transportation Security Administration as a screening officer. He has also completed two internships with a police department.

Aaron Najor is enrolled at Oakland University where he is currently working towards his degree in criminal justice. His most recent employment was in the private sector security industry. His work experience includes Universal Protection Service as a supervisor of public safety at Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights.

Derek Greathouse lives in Dearborn. He worked as a previously City of Dearborn police officer, serving 25 years. He retired at the rank of sergeant. He worked as a Beaumont Hospital Police Authority staff member and also had a part-time job at the Village of South Rockwood Police Department. His experience includes 13 years as an evidence technician.

Derek Sturdevan attended Saint Clair Community College where he attained an associate’s degree in applied arts and science with an emphasis in criminal justice. He then attended the Macomb Community College Police Academy. His has been a part-time police officer with the Richmond Police Department and a full-time police officer with the Farmington Hills Police Department. He also was employed as a security officer at LSS Consulting in Rochester Hills.

The department’s three new ordinance officers are;

Amar-Paul “Amy” Bhullar is a 19-year-old sophomore at the University of Michigan-Dearborn where she is pursuing a degree in psychology and minoring in Spanish. She is fluent in Spanish, Punjabi and Hindi. She is a member of the University of Michigan’s Student Government organization and on the Women’s Varsity Cross-Country team. She will be assigned to the Parking Enforcement day shift.

Cayla Lockard attends Wayne State University and is majoring in social work. She enjoys gardening, camping and other outdoor activities. Once fully trained and certified, she will be assigned as an animal control officer on the day shift.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Summerfield is a longtime Dearborn resident. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and experience in working with animals at the Michigan Humane Society and Animal Care Network. She has a passion for animals and enjoys traveling, running and caring for her three pets. Upon completing several weeks of in-house training, she will be assigned to the day shift Animal Control.
