The three free splash pads at Crowley, Hemlock and Whitmore–Bolles are operating 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The pandemic affected the city’s ability to recruit, hire and train lifeguards for the season, and so not all pools in Dearborn were able to open. Other resources were limited as well.
Unfortunately, the pools at Lapeer Park and Summer-Stephens Park will remain closed for 2020.
Ford Woods was chosen for the east side because it is a large, new complex. Ten Eyck was chosen for the west end because it has fewer mechanical and equipment issues than Summer-Stephens. The neighborhood pools are all more than 50 years old.
Dunworth Pool at Levagood Park could not open in 2020 due to the construction of a bathhouse.
COVID-19 safety protocols are in place at Ford Woods and at Ten Eyck. Capacity is limited to 50 percent. Masks must be worn to enter or exit the pool area, and at any time while patrons are walking around. Temperature screenings take place before patrons can enter, and additional sanitation efforts are being made. Patrons must stay 6 feet away from anyone not in their household, both in and out of the water.
