Dearborn Dental Manager Charged In Medicaid Fraud Scheme: AG (patch.com) — Dearborn residents are learning that the manager of Dearborn Family Smiles, 41-year-old Lina Abraham, has been charged with running a Medicaid fraud scheme involving dental crowns that prosecutors say were never provided. State officials allege she billed under the clinic's former name, Artistic Dentistry, and stress that no other staff are believed involved as she awaits an Oct. 2 court date and potentially lengthy prison time.
2. Arab American group opening $25M substance abuse center in Dearborn (freep.com subscription) — Dearborn is getting a $25 million ACCESS Recovery Center on Michigan Avenue that will offer substance abuse and mental health services, including some residential care, starting around January. Funded largely by state, federal, county, and city support, the 53,000-square-foot facility will serve Southeast Michigan while working closely with Dearborn police, schools, and faith leaders to reduce stigma and connect residents to treatment.
3. Metro Detroit Residents Charged with Threatening Elected Officials Including Dearborn Mayor (news-usa.today) — Authorities say two Metro Detroit residents are under investigation for alleged threats against several Michigan officials, including Dearborn's mayor and members of the state Supreme Court. The case underscores growing security concerns for local leaders and could lead to formal charges as prosecutors review digital communications and determine whether the messages crossed the legal line into criminal intimidation.
4. Ford team focuses on speeding up technology (avpress.com) — Ford's Research and Advanced Engineering team, based in Dearborn, is pushing to speed up how quickly new technologies reach vehicles so the company can keep pace with foreign competitors. Leaders say their goal is to move from ideas to real-world testing in weeks or even days, building on past work like respirators during COVID-19 and innovations in F-150 and future electric trucks.
