Today's riddle: What do you call a paper airplane that can't fly? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Dearborn police video shows drone response assistance in fleeing suspects (fox2detroit.com) — Dearborn residents can now see exactly how the police department's new Drone as First Responder program helped track and safely arrest two suspects fleeing a traffic stop near Michigan Avenue and Schaefer. A newly released video, combining drone, dashcam, and bodycam footage, shows how six city drones can launch within minutes to support responses to crashes, crimes, and missing-person calls across Dearborn.
2. MI gas prices drop 22 cents from last week (wnmufm.org) — Dearborn drivers are seeing some relief at the pump as Michigan's average gas price has dropped 22 cents in a week, now around $4.47 per gallon. Prices are still far above last year, but Metro Detroit averages have dipped too, giving Dearborn commuters a bit of breathing room while fuel demand and production both ease slightly nationwide.
3. In Michigan, Muslim and Jewish voters are divided on Abdul El-Sayed. They share the same fear. (ms.now subscription) — Dearborn residents, especially Muslim voters, are playing a central role in shaping Michigan's high-stakes Senate race between Abdul El-Sayed and Mike Rogers, with many enthusiastic yet unsure he can deliver on big promises. In roundtables held in Dearborn, local Muslims and nearby Jewish voters described rising fears about safety, identity, and hate-fueled politics, even as economic worries and cost-of-living pressures dominate daily life.
4. Dearborn man pleads 'no contest' in Frankenmuth child sex sting (abc12.com) — A Dearborn man has pleaded "no contest" to two counts of distributing obscene material to children after a sting at a Frankenmuth hotel and waterpark. More serious charges were dropped in a plea deal, and he now faces sentencing and probation in December, a case that may concern Dearborn residents following regional child-safety enforcement.
5. Dearborn man arrested in Monroe Township, stolen van recovered (bnd.com) — A 32-year-old Dearborn man was arrested early Monday in Monroe Township after deputies used a license-plate camera alert to track a stolen work van. The vehicle, reported stolen out of Lincoln Park, was found in a Park and Ride lot, and the driver was jailed on a possession of stolen vehicle charge, which could have implications for Dearborn's own community ties.
