Bogus Cops Conduct Fake Raid, Steal Rent Money
Men announced themselves as police before crashing through a window and robbing a woman and her roommate, police said.
Four men impersonating police officers broke into a Detroit home early Wednesday and announced they were conducting a raid before robbing a woman of $1,000 in rent money and other items.
The home invasion occurred around 1 a.m. in the 3300 block of Lockwood, just off Michigan Avenue on the city’s southwest side, WIXYZ-TV an WJBK-TV are reporting.

“They identified themselves as police and told me and my roommate to get down on the floor and not look at them,” the woman, who is in her 50s, told WJBK. “I was scared for my life. I was scared for my dogs. I was scared for my roommate. I just couldn’t believe this was happening.”

Three of the suspects are white and the other is black, according to the reports. They left the area in a silver or gray van.
Besides the $1,000, the impersonators also took a 56-inch television, game console, jewelry and a coin collection, according to reports.
