Dearborn Groups to Remember Korean War Armistice
A number of local groups and dignitaries will remember the Korean War armistice and the conflict's veterans at a ceremony Wednesday.

Historians have often called the Korean War “the Forgotten War,” overshadowed by World War II and Vietnam. But for the men and women who served during the conflict, it’s anything but.
The armistice that ended the war will be commemorated Wednesday at the by the Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council, Korean-American groups and Dearborn Mayor Jack O’Reilly, according to a press release.
Wednesday will be the 58th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice, which will be the focus of the 5:30 p.m. ceremony. The event will also remember the 61st anniversary of the war’s start, which was June 20, 1950.

Numerous Dearborn natives served in the United States military during the conflict, during which 26 local men gave their lives. Wednesday’s anniversary ceremony will honor them and other Korean War veterans.
The Korean War Armistice Remembrance Committee will begin the remembrance event at 5:30 p.m. and a public reception will follow at 7 p.m. at the .
