Two men, including a Dearborn Heights police officer, who were found dead in a garage last month died of an accidental drug overdose, officials said Thursday.
Ryan Bridges, spokesman Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office, said officer John Burdick, 46, and James Ewen, 45, died of cocaine fentanyl toxicity on May 15, the Detroit Free Press reports.
The men died the same day their bodies were found in the garage in the 8500 block of Lochdale, Bridges said.

The men’s deaths had been the source of some mystery after officials ruled out foul play and carbon monoxide poisoning. Autopsies were inconclusive.
The two men were good friends and neighbors, according to police. Burdick was a veteran police officer with 18 years at the Dearborn Heights Police Department, and had been promoted to sergeant within a month of his death, the Free Press said.
