Dearborn Residents Will Not Be Ticketed For High Grass During Stay-At-Home Order
Dearborn Mayor Jack O'Reilly is assuring residents that no tickets will be issued for high grass while the stay-at-home order is in place.
Mayor Jack O’Reilly is assuring residents on April 15 that no tickets will be issued for high grass while Gov. Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order is in place, or for a reasonable period once it is lifted.
The City of Dearborn understands that residents are concerned about maintaining their lawns due to being unable to hire a landscaping company during the state-wide executive order.

However, the City will not be penalizing people who can’t cut their grass themselves. Residents are allowed to mow their own yards under the executive order, but many people are unable to do so.
According to Gov. Whitmer’s executive order, which is a law, lawn care and landscaping companies are not considered essential and may not operate until the order is lifted.

The only exception to this order is any work done that is “strictly necessary to address a circumstance that immediately and genuinely impairs the habitability of a home.” Concerns about longer grass increasing insects, pests, or allergies, do not qualify, according to the state.
