Dearborn Schools Collecting Food Donations
The public school district will host its several annual "Battle Against Hunger" to collect food and money for families in need.
DEARBORN, MI — Many Dearborn Public Schools will be holding a food drive next week to battle against hunger.
The public school district's seventh annual "Battle Against Hunger" will run from Nov. 15 to Nov. 19. The district's three high schools: Dearborn High, Edsel Ford and Fordson will be collection donations, as well as several elementary and middle schools:
- Becker Elementary
- Bryant Middle
- Dearborn Magnet High School
- DuVall Elementary
- Long Elementary, Lowrey
- Lindbergh Elementary
- Henry Ford Elementary
- Howard Elementary
- McCollough/Unis
- McDonald Elementary
- Miller Elementary
- Nowlin Elementary
- Oakman Elementary
- River Oaks Elementary
- Salina Elementary
- Smith Middle
- Snow Elementary
- STEM Middle
- Stout Middle
- Whitmore-Bolles Elementary
- William Ford Elementary
- Woodworth Middle.
"It is wonderful to see how our high school students and the now younger students come together as one district to help others in our community," Superintendent Glenn Maleyko said. "The generosity of our students and families will have a positive impact for those in need in our area."

All food donations will be given to Zaman International and Monetary donations will be shared between Amity Foundation and Gleaners Food Bank.
Monetary donations can be made through a crowdfunding site hosted by the Dearborn Education Foundation. Online donors who want to support the Battle drive at a particular high school can list DHS, EFHS or FHS in the “Order Notes” field.

The event began in 2015 as a friendly competition between the schools to see who could raise the most food and money. However, it has now elevated into a cooperative event to help families in need.
