Dearborn Sees Rash Of Catalytic Converter Thefts

Police are looking for a burgundy Kia Optima wanted in relation to a series of auto larcenies.

DEARBORN, MI — Several vehicles have been targeted recently in Dearborn for catalytic converter theft, according to the Dearborn Police Department, and authorities are looking for a suspect vehicle that may be involved. On April 30, Dearborn officers pursued a burgundy late model Kia Optima occupied by three black men in a related larceny. Police reportedly terminated the chase because it posed a threat to public safety.

Neighboring communities have also been targeted by men in the same Kia Optima, according to police.

“These crimes have an adverse impact on the quality of life of our residents and will not be tolerated,” Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a press release. “We will work closely with our regional partners to apprehend these suspects.”
