Democrat Hillary Clinton to Campaign in Detroit Monday
Former secretary of state, who lost the Michigan primary to rival Bernie Sanders, will speak to thousands of union members at Cobo Center.
DETROIT, MI – Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton will meet with thousands of union members in Detroit Monday afternoon, her campaign said Friday.
Clinton, who narrowly lost to rival Bernie Sanders in Michigan’s March 8 primary after polling with a comfortable margin, will speak at 1 p.m. at the Service Employees International Union convention at Cobo Center.
The Clinton campaign said in a news release that the former secretary of state will “discuss her plans to raise incomes for working families and break down all the barriers holding Americans back.”

Clinton got the SEIU endorsement last all, and the union said Friday that since then, “our members have come out in record numbers to volunteer in primaries and caucuses.”

Exit polls after the primary suggested Trump could turn the state red.
Voters in both parties — 57 percent of Democrats and 55 percent of Republicans polled — said they think trade deals take jobs away from American. Further, 69 percent of Democrats described themselves as “dissatisfied” or “angry” with the federal government, and 34 percent said they would not be satisfied if Clinton won the nomination.
Trump could siphon some of Sanders’ populist Michigan voters, Republican strategist John Brabender told Fortune.
