Emergency Overnight Shelter Opens after Power Outage
Also, Dearborn schools will make a decision by 5:30 a.m. Tuesday on whether school will be held at four schools affected by outage.

The American Red Cross and city of Dearborn opening an emergency 60-bed warming shelter at Dearborn Public Schools’ McCollough-Unis School, 7801 Maple St., for DTE Energy customers who are without power after an equipment failure and fire at the Dearborn substation Monday morning.
As many as 6,000 homes are businesses are still without electrical service. DTE Energy said it will likely be Tuesday before power is fully restored.
Shelter space is open only to those residents who lost power. The shelter opened at 5 p.m. and will remain open overnight, when temperatures dip to around 30.

A decision will be made Tuesday on whether to keep the shelter open additional hours.

As of 5 p.m. Monday, four schools — Lowrey, Oakman, Maples and William Ford — were till without power due to the fire at the DTE Electrical Sub-Station.
DTE is estimating that the power will not be restored until later in the day on Tuesday. However, an exact time is not known. Due to the uncertainty of when power will be restored, the school district said in a statement it will continue to monitor the situation throughout the evening and make a decision on whetherschool will be open by 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
This decision will only affect the four schools that do not have power.
All other schools in the district will be open on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
