Explosion in Park Restrooms Forces Evacuation
DTE Energy officials have asked motorists to avoid the area of Dingell Park.

ECORSE, MI – DTE Energy Co. is investigating whether a gas leak caused a morning explosion in public restrooms at Dingell Park at 4501 W. Jefferson.
Walls are still intact, and DTE shut off gas at the restroom facility around 7:41 a.m., The Detroit News reports.
Two businesses and nearby homes were evacuated, but there were no reported injuries, WWJ reports.

The News Herald said motorists are asked to avoid the area of Dingell Park, which is located along the Detroit River at Jefferson Avenue and Southfield Road.
