Patch’s earlier report:
Reporters covering an ongoing FBI operation on Detroit’s west side have been asked to stop live tweeting about the situation involving a barricaded gunman or be pushed back from the area in the 9100 block of Dawes, west of Livernois between Interstate 96 and Tireman.
Holly Fournier, a reporter for The Detroit News, tweeted about 8:45 a.m. that authorities told reporters to stop sharing information on social media.
Fournier was about a block away from the situation, and tweeted earlier that she could see several police vehicles and a tan armored vehicle on the lawn. Tactical officers had guns pointed toward the home.
At one point, tear gas was fired into the home.
The situation apparently unfolded when police officers from western Michigan were serving a search warrant.
“We have a barricaded gunman,” Sgt. Greg Griffin of the Grand Rapids Police Department told The Detroit News. “They were executing a search warrant, and he’s barricaded himself in there.”
