“Each year, the Navy recruiting station searches for a flag that needs to be retired, and the Dearborn Historical Museum’s flag was ready for a proper flag burning ceremony,” said Chief Petty Officer Ryan Serecky.

The commemoration will include a dignified ceremony to burn the museum’s flag. The flag will be cut into strips, and each strip will be burned one at a time, according to American Legion protocols for the disposal of flags that are no longer fit for public display.
