Laith Al-Saadi, Finalist on ‘The Voice,’ Headlines Dearborn Homecoming

Dearborn, MI — Laith Al-Saadi, who made it to the final four of NBC’s “The Voice,” will headline the Dearborn Homecoming festival on Saturday, Aug. 6.

The Ann Arbor guitarist and vocalist performs an authentic blend of blues, soul and classic rock, with Guitar World magazine calling him a cross between "Danny Gatton and Buddy Guy at their best.”

A Homecoming favorite, Al-Saadi has played the festival previously, as well as on stages across the country working with legends like Taj Mahal, Luther Allison, Buddy Guy, Son Seals, Gregg Allman and B.B. King.

Al-Saadi’s most recent album, “REAL,” climbed to the top of the blues chart for five weeks. Al-Saadi also had four singles in the Top 10 iTunes singles charts. His albums “In The Round” and “Long Time Coming” spent time at the top of the rock and album charts.

Entertainment Weekly has called Al-Saadi “a power performer who is so legitimate and memorable.” In 2006, Guitar Center crowned him one of the top four blues guitarists in the United States. 

Al-Saadi’s concert is free, as is admission to the Aug. 5-7 festival, now in its 37th year, held the first full weekend of every August at Ford Field Park, 22051 Cherry Hill, Dearborn.

In addition to three days of live music, the festival features great food, free and affordable family activities, high school reunions, a carnival, and spectacular fireworks displays on Saturday and Sunday nights. 

This year, the event will incorporate activities inspired by the Healthy Dearborn initiative, including a family-friendly bike ride on Saturday morning, kayaking and canoeing on Saturday, and a 5K Fun Run on Sunday. 

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day.

The event provides an important annual fundraiser for many Dearborn-based nonprofit groups that serve the community. More than 30 organizations work with the Dearborn Community Fund and the City of Dearborn to be part of Homecoming.  Beaumont is the festival’s presenting sponsor.
