Shortly after 5 a.m. Friday, a man flagged down a police officer and said he'd been attacked because he stirred his friend's chili.
DETROIT, MI – A Detroit man told police he was bitten and stabbed early Friday morning as tension boiled over when he stirred a pot of chili simmering on the stove.
The 26-year-old suspect allegedly attacked his wife, 35, and the renegade chili-stirrer about 5:10 a.m., Detroit Police Officer Jennifer Moreno told The Detroit News.
The male victim ran from the house, located in the 19200 block of St. Mary’s Street on Detroit’s west side, and caught the attention of a police officer conducting a traffic stop in the area.

The bite and stab wounds to the man’s right thigh were non-life-threatening, but he was taken to a hospital for treatment. It’s not known how the woman was injured, but she reportedly wasn’t taken to the hospital.
