Plan a Detour Sunday Around Detroit-Windsor Tunnel

The international border crossing will be closed for a training exercise.

DETROIT, MI – Police, firefighters, emergency medical service personnel and customs officials from the United States and Canada will swarm the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, which will be closed for a few hours Sunday morning for an annual training exercise.

That means the mile-long tunnel, which takes motorists across the international border at the Detroit River, will be off limits to motorists from 7-10 a.m.

The focus this year will be on rescue response, tunnel president Neal Belitsky told WWJ Radio.
