Police; Woman Stabbed Multiple Times, Strangled in ‘Domestic Violence … that Escalated’
Haron Rajeh Elmawri is being held on $1 million bond.
A 23-year-old Dearborn resident was arraigned on first-degree murder and torture charges Monday in connection with the Saturday death of Asyh Elmawri, 30, who died of multiple stab wounds and strangulation.
“This appears to be a domestic violence incident that escalated,” Dearborn Police chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the family of the victim.”
Dearborn police were called to the 7500 block of Bingham at approximately 1:40 p.m. Saturday and took Haron Rajeh Elmawri into custody.

During Monday’s arraignment, 19th District Court Judge Sam Salamey set bond at $1 million cash/surety. If released, Elmawri must wear an electronic monitoring device.
His preliminary exam is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 8 in 19th District Court.
