Relive the War of 1812 at Greenfield Village This Weekend
The early 19th Century U.S. comes to life at the Dearborn history attraction Aug. 18 and 19.

Commemorate the first true test of United States militia during the War of 1812 Muster at Aug. 18-19. The Porches & Parlors Historic District comes alive with activities that depict life during wartime in the early 1800s, from learning the basics of early 19th Century defensive works to experiencing the civilian fashions, goods, food and music.
The War of 1812 Muster in Greenfield Village offers an up-close opportunity to learn more about citizen soldiers of the local militias, commerce and trade, diplomacy and more.
Special presentations on Michigan’s role in the war will take place throughout the weekend given by historians and State of Michigan War of 1812 Commissioners, including “Michigan at War: The Struggle for The Old Northwest, 1812-1815” presented by Dr. James McConnell, on Saturday; and “Troubled Waters: The Great Lakes Frontier on the Eve of War of 1812” presented by Brian L. Dunnigan.

On Saturday at 8 p.m., the Michigan Commission on the Commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 will provide a free showing of the 30-minute documentary Michigan at War: The Stuggle of the Old Northwest, 1812-1815 inside the Anderson Theater at . Also new this year, guests can stop by the Luther Burbank Birthplace in the Village to view never-before-exhibited artifacts of the 1812 era from The Henry Ford collections.
The War of 1812 Muster is free with membership or admission to Greenfield Village. Tickets are $24 adults, $22 seniors (ages 62 and up), $17.50 youth (ages 5-12) and free for children ages four and under. For more information, call 313-982-6001 or visit thehenryford.org.
