Some of Dearborn's Best Make 'Best of Detroit 2015'

Brera Pizza & Salad Co. and Brome Burgers & Shakes both made Thrillist's top picks. So did a couple of spots in Hamtramck.

DEARBORN, MI – Dearborn scored a couple of mentions on Thrillist’s “Best of Detroit 2015” list of new food and drink establishments.

Brera Pizza & Salad Co.,a fast-casual pizza and salad spot at 1002 S Military St., won the “best new pizza” category.

Thrillist wrote: “If you’re familiar with concepts like Blaze, 800 Degrees, MOD, Pieology, etc., this is very much in keeping with those, only better because a) the taste – Blaze is pretty awful – and b) the price – 800 Degrees is kind of ridiculously expensive for fast-cas.”

Brome Burgers & Shakes, 22062 Michigan Ave., cooks up the “best new burger,” according to Thrillist.

“While everywhere else is busy pushing 18 different preparations of pork belly down our throats, Dearborn business owners are free to focus entirely on beef, and we’re all the better off for it,” Thrillist wrote. “From world-famous dive bar burgers like Miller’s to halal gourmet burger joints like the new Brome Burgers & Shakes, Dearborn is where you need to be if burgers are what you seek.”

In nearby Hamtramck, Bumbo’s, 3001 Holbrook Ave., was named the “best new dive,” and Living Zen Organics, 11464 Mitchell St., was named the “best new vegetarian spot.”

Of Bumbo’s, Thrillist wrote that the former Hank’s Lounge has been reborn as “the Hamtramck hipster (of the more punk/less tech variety) hangout du jour.”

Living Zen Organics, “Detroit’s most interesting vegetarian/vegan/organic restaurant has been resurrected, and now includes a tea room,” Thrillist wrote.
