Woman Robbing Bank Claims to Have Bomb: Police

Police have released a description of the suspect, but haven't said if she got any cash from Dearborn Heights bank.

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI – A woman passed a note to a Comerica Bank teller claiming she had a bomb in an attempted bank robbery Thursday afternoon, Dearborn Heights police said.

The woman entered the bank near Telegraph Road and Annapolis Street about 3:40 p.m. and was talking to the clerk about opening an account when she passed the note demanding money, Dearborn Heights Police Officer Mark Parrinello told The Detroit News.

Police aren’t saying whether she got away with any cash, but she left the scene on foot and got into a waiting tan or gray vehicle, possibly a GMC Yukon, driven by an accomplice.

The woman, described as in her 30s, was wearing gray sweatpants and a gray, hooded sweatshirt with “Detroit written on the front in orange lettering and a white Olde English “D” on the left sleeve. She also wore a dark-colored hood. What appeared to be a red scarf or hair was visible just above her eyes, according to the description.
