Wyandotte Police K-9 Cleared In Missing Lunch Investigation
Wyandotte Police decided to drop the investigation after they were "threatened with massive protests."

WYANDOTTE, MI — Wyandotte Police jokingly asked the community for help prosecuting a canine they believe stole a fellow officer's lunch.
Police said K-9 Officer Ice stole Officer Barwig's lunch from the break room when he was suddenly called to assist with a person in the department's jail.
Barwig told police that K-9 Officer Ice "leisurely" walked out of the break room "licking his chops" when he returned to the room and found the lunch he had been eating gone.

"Within the officer’s sworn oath is the promise to protect person’s property," police said in a satirical post. "That being said, it saddens me to report that a current officer of the Wyandotte Police Department is under investigation for stealing!"
Police said k-9 Officer Ice invoked his fifth amendment right and refused to cooperate with the investigation.

However, police said K-9 Officer Ice has a history of rummaging through trash cans that are within his reach, and has been accused before taking food right from coworkers' hands as they walk by.
Although police felt strongly about their case, it turned into a nightmare once they asked the community for help in pursuing charges.
Many people and dozens of lawyers defended the pup, writing that he was innocent until proven guilty.
"We have been threatened with massive protests if we move forward with our investigation and/or charges," police said in another satirical post. "Plus the overall public just doesn’t believe he is guilty."
That's when police decided to drop the investigation against K-9 Officer Ice, and instead, decided to give him a special treat.
In addition, one of K-9 Officer Ice's local supporters, Lunch Wyandotte, dropped him off a custom-made sandwich today because "they felt like he wasn’t being fed enough," police said.
"The public has spoken," police said.
