13 MI People Were Charged In Connection To Jan. 6 Insurrection

Here's what we know about the 13 people from Michigan charged in connection to the insurrection.

MICHIGAN — As Thursday marks the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol insurrection by loyalists to Donald Trump who wanted to stop the certification of Joe Biden's election to the presidency, 13 Michiganders are charged in connection with the insurrection.

The FBI has arrested 705 people so far and seeks the public's help identifying 350 people believed to have committed violence on Capitol grounds. That includes 250 believed to have attacked police officers.

The FBI said it has 16 videos of suspects wanted in connection with violent attacks on federal officers, and one video of two suspects wanted in connection with attacks on the media that day. Anyone with information about those people should call 800-225-5324 or visit tips.fbi.gov.

Here's what we know about the 13 people from Michigan charged in connection to the insurrection, according to the U.S. Department of Justice:

Logan James Barnhart, Lansing

Barnhart was arrested on Aug. 17 and charged with:

  • Assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers.
  • Using a dangerous weapon and aiding and abetting.
  • Civil Disorder.
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds, violent entry.
  • Disorderly conduct in a capitol building or grounds.

Tim Lavon Boughner, Lapeer County

Boughner was arrested on Dec. 7 and charged with:

  • Assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers.
  • Using a dangerous weapon or inflicting bodily injury.
  • Civil disorder.
  • Obstruction of an official proceeding.
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly conduct in a capitol building.
  • Impeding passage through the capitol grounds or buildings.
  • Act of physical violence in the capitol grounds or buildings.

Trevor Brown

Brown was arrested on July 1 and charged with:

  • Obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder.
  • Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Violent entry and disorderly conduct on capitol grounds.
  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.

Jeremiah Caplinger

Caplinger was arrested on April 6 and pleaded guilty to count five on Nov. 7. He was charged with:

  • Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.
  • Violent entry and disorderly conduct on capitol grounds.
  • Climbing on U.S. capitol grounds.

Karl Dresch, Calumet

Dresch was arrested Jan. 15, 2021, and pleaded guilty to count five. He was charged with:

  • Obstruction of an official proceeding.
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly conduct in a capitol building.
  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.

Michael Joseph Foy, Wixom

Foy was arrested on Jan. 21, 2021, and pleaded not guilty to all accounts that included:

  • Civil disorder.
  • Obstruction of an official proceeding.
  • Assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers using a dangerous weapon.
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon.
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Act of physical violence in the capitol grounds or buildings.

Daniel Herendeen, Chesterfield

Herendeen was arrested on March 18 and was charged with:

  • Obstruction of an official proceeding.
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly conduct in a capitol building.
  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.

He pleaded not guilty to all accounts.

James Allen Mels, Roseville

Mels was arrested on Feb. 11 and charged with:

  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building.
  • Violent entry and disorderly conduct in a capitol building.
  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.

He pleaded not guilty.

Michael Anthony Puma, Brownstone

Puma was arrested on May 27 and charged with:

  • Obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting.
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly conduct in a capitol building, parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a capitol building.

Robert Schornak, Roseville

Schornak was arrested on March 18 and charged with:

  • Obstruction of an official proceeding.
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly conduct in a capitol building.
  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.

He pleaded guilty to count 2 on Nov. 12.

Jeremy Ryan Sorvisto, Hancock

Sorvisto was arrested on April 7 and was charged with:

  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly conduct in a capitol building.
  • Parading, demonstrating, or picketing a capitol building.

He pleaded not guilty.

Steven Thurlow, Saint Clair Shores

Thurlow was arrested on June 30 and charged with:

  • Knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.
  • Disorderly conduct in a capitol building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.

Robert Anthony Williams, Southgate

Williams was arrested on March 26 and charged with:

  • Obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting.
  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
  • Disorderly conduct in a capitol building.
  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.
