Tornadoes, Flooding Possible With Severe Storms Across Detroit Area Wednesday

Southeastern Michigan is under a slight risk (level 2/5) for severe weather Wednesday night.

More severe storms are expected to hit the Detroit area Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms will most likely move into the area between 8 p.m. and midnight, though they could hit as early as 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to NWS.

Forecasters warned the storms will bring heavy rainfall, hail, winds up to 70 miles per hour and isolated tornadoes to the Detroit area.

Most of the region will see between 1 and 2 inches of rain, with some localized spots of 3 inches or more, leading to widespread flooding across the region, according to NWS.

A flood watch is in effect for southeastern Michigan as forecasters expect much of this rainfall to happen in 3 to 4 hours or less.

Sunshine returns to the region Thursday with highs in the low 70s. The comfortable temperatures will stick around Friday and through the weekend. The next chance for rain comes Sunday and early next week, according to NWS.
