More than 31,000 DTE customers in the metro Detroit area were without power Wednesday morning due to strong winds.
METRO DETROIT — Thousand of DTE customers in the metro Detroit area were without power Wednesday due to strong winds.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 31,146 DTE customers in the Detroit area were left in the dark, according to DTE Energy.
The outages were scattered across the region with most centering around Ann Arbor, Detroit, Farmington Hills, West Bloomfield and Detroit Metro Airport, according to DTE Energy.

DTE did not provide restoration estimates and warned they could take a while because it's dangerous for crews to repair power lines in dangerous winds.
The metro Detroit area was under a wind advisory Wednesday, as forecasters warned wind gusts could reach up to 50 miles per hour. A separate weather system could bring rain, sleet and snow to the metro area Thursday.
