4 People Seriously Hurt In Crash On Detroit Freeway: Police

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes on Interstate 94 near Interstate 96 at 8 p.m.​ Thursday night, police said.

DETROIT — Four people were seriously hurt in a Thursday night crash on a Detroit freeway, according to Michigan State Police.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes on Interstate 94 near Interstate 96 at 8 p.m. Thursday night, police said.

A 35-year-old Ferndale man was speeding in a vehicle on the freeway where he slammed into the back of another vehicle, causing it to roll over and trap its occupants inside, police said.

The speeding vehicle then struck another vehicle on the freeway, police said.

Officials freed the victims from the wreck and rushed four people with serious injuries to the hospital, where their condition was unknown Friday morning, police said.

Officials did not release any additional information.

"We still see drivers driving way too fast on our roadways," First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "This risky driving behavior still remains a main cause of traffic crashes. Please slow down and leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you."

Police were still investigating the crash.
