Man Fatally Shoots Grandmother Inside Oakland County Home: Police

The man was arrested in connection with the shooting, according to police.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A woman is dead after a domestic shooting Tuesday morning in Farmington Hills, according to police.

The shooting happened in the 31000 block of Middlebelt, north of 13 Mile Road in Farmington Hills, according to police.

Farmington Hills Police Chief John Piggott told reporters a man in his 30s shot his grandmother during a domestic dispute at the home.

The man then barricaded himself inside one of the rooms while the woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she died, Piggott said.

Officers negotiated with the man, but eventually broke the bedroom window and struck him with PepperBall rounds to get him to comply, Piggott said.

The man was arrested without further incident, Piggott said.

Police did not identify the man or grandmother. They did not release any other details as the investigation continues.
