Multiple Chances For Storms This Week: Metro Detroit Weather

Forecasters warned some storms may become severe.

Multiple waves of showers and thunderstorms are expected to hit the Detroit area this week, according to the National Weather Service.

But first, highs will reach the low 70s with some sunshine Monday across the region, according to NWS.

The first wave of showers and thunderstorms will move into the region Tuesday during the afternoon and evening hours with highs in the upper 70s, according to NWS.

Forecasters warned those storms could become severe and produce heavy downpours and large hail.

More widespread and stronger storms will hit the Detroit area Wednesday. Those storms will be capable of producing isolated tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds, according to NWS.

Areas south of metro Detroit face the greatest chance for severe weather Wednesday afternoon, according to NWS.

Conditions will be better Thursday, though there is still a chance for showers in the morning hours, according to NWS.

Thursday's high will climb toward 80 degrees once the morning showers move through the area, according to NWS.

Sunny conditions with highs near 80 degrees will return Friday and through the weekend, according to NWS.

Tuesday: Storms; High 77, Low 56

Wednesday: Storms; High 77, Low 62

Thursday: Rain (early); High 78, Low 56

Friday: Sunny; High 76, Low 56

Saturday: Sunny; High 77, Low 58
