Woman Killed, 1 Hurt In Wrong-Way Crash On I-75 In Detroit: Police

Investigators were still trying to determine why the driver was going the wrong way.

DETROIT — A woman was killed in a Tuesday morning fiery wrong-way crash on Interstate 75 in Detroit, according to Michigan State Police.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. in the southbound lanes on the freeway near Rosa Parks Boulevard, according to police.

The 38-year-old Detroit woman was moving in the southbound lanes when a driver moving north slammed into her car, according to police.

Both vehicles rolled over and one of them caught fire, according to police.

Police said the woman died in the crash.

The suspected wrong-way driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police did not disclose the severity of the injuries.

Investigators were still trying to determine why the driver was going the wrong way. They did not identify any contributing factors.

Southbound Interstate 75 was shut down for several hours following the crash. All lanes have since reopened to traffic.

Police did not release any names. No other details were released.
