Arrest Made In 9-Year-Old Abduction; Sexual Assault Case: Police

The 9-year-old Farmington Hills girl​ was abducted and sexually assaulted in Detroit on Sunday.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — An arrest was made Thursday in connection to a 9-year-old Farmington Hills girl that was abducted and sexually assaulted in Detroit, Farmington Hills and Detroit Police officials said.

The suspect was arrested at his workplace Thursday morning, The Detroit News reported.

"The safety of the victim, her family, and our community remain our top priority, along with the appropriate investigation and prosecution of the suspect," Farmington Hills police Chief Jeff King said.

The young girl was kidnapped in the area of Eight Mile Road and Grand River, after she left her Farmington Hills home near Eight Mile and Middlebelt Road at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The suspect was driving a silver or white 2015-2021 Jeep Renegade and Detroit Police described the driver as a Black/African American male, who is bald and has a beard.

The man then drove to a residence near Eight Mile Road and Berg Road in Detroit, where he sexually assaulted the young girl, police said.

A neighbor then found the young girl near Trojan Street and Berg Road in Detroit wearing nothing but a blanket.

The neighbor called police and the young girl was taken to Children's Hospital, police said.
