Arrest Made In Detroit Mass Shooting That Killed 3: Police

DETROIT — One person has been arrested in connection with a mass shooting that left three people dead in Detroit last weekend, according to police.

Police did not identify the person, but said a warrant has been sent to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for the possible filing of criminal charges.

The shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. Sunday at the corner of Eaton and Prest streets, near a home that was hosting "dancing-type activities," according to police.

Officers arrived and found three men, all in their 30s, shot dead, according to police.

Two other men and two women, all in their 20s and 30s, were also shot and taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

It's unclear what led to the shooting, but Police Chief Todd Bettison said the home acted as an after-hours spot. He also said this wasn't the first time officers had been called to the home.

Bettison thanked community members who cooperated with investigators, adding their tips played a huge role in the arrest.

"When people share what they know, it helps our investigators identify those responsible, gather the evidence necessary to build strong cases and ultimately hold violent offenders accountable," Bettison said in a statement.
