Big Sean To Perform Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Halftime Show

The Detroit rapper last performed the Thanksgiving Day Classic game in 2015, in which the Lions defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 45-15.

DETROIT — The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday that Detroit rapper Big Sean will perform the halftime show for the Thanksgiving Day Classic game on Thursday, the team said in a news release.

Big Sean is a certified multi-platinum artist and a graduate of Detroit’s Cass Technical High School. The team also announced that multi-Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, actor and producer NE-YO will perform the national anthem.

The Detroit artist released Detroit 2 last year, which included a song titled "Why Would I Stop?" It became his third consecutive solo album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The Nipsey Hussle-featuring single, "Deep Reverence," earned a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the 2021 Grammys.

Big Sean has gone platinum and gold 35 times during the course of his career. He also performed the halftime show for the 2015 Thanksgiving Day Classic game at Ford Field.

Big Sean also told ESPN's First Take last year that he loves the Lions, but is"tired of having his heart broken."

The Lions will be looking for their first win of the season Thursday against the Chicago Bears. Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m. and tickets are still available to purchase at www.detroitlions.com/tickets.
