DETROIT — Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit is vying to repeat as USA Today's best public square in the nation.
The park won the honor last year and has been ranked by the outlet as one of the best public squares in the nation over the past four years.

Campus Martius Park serves as Detroit’s gathering place, where locals and visitors alike can come to take in the skyline views, people-watch around the Woodward Fountain, grab a meal from a food truck, or go ice skating in winter.
Campus Martius opened in 2004 and has become a staple in downtown, as it draws millions of people from the Detroit area and around the world to the city. The park annually holds events, such as the Christmas Tree lighting, ice skating and the Detroit Jazz Festival.
This year, the park and its surrounding areas will host the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25-27. The NFL Draft has become one of the most anticipated sports events of the year, drawing hundreds of thousands of fans from around the world.

Other public squares that made the list include, Fountain Square, Cincinnati, Centerway Square in Corning, New York, Jackson Square, New Orleans, among others.
