Campus Martius Picked As Best Public Square In Nation By USA Today

For the second straight year, Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit was picked the best public square​ in the nation​ by USA Today.

DETROIT — For the second straight year, Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit was picked the best public square in the nation by USA Today.

"Campus Martius Park serves as Detroit’s gathering place, where locals and visitors alike can come to take in the skyline views, people-watch around the Woodward Fountain, grab a meal from a food truck, or go ice skating in winter," the outlet said of Campus Martius.

This year, the park and its surrounding areas will host the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25-27. The NFL Draft has become one of the most anticipated sports events of the year, drawing hundreds of thousands of fans from around the world.

Campus Martius opened in 2004 and has become a staple in downtown, as it draws millions of people from the Detroit area and around the world to the city. The park annually holds events, such as the Christmas Tree lighting, ice skating and the Detroit Jazz Festival.

Other public squares that made the list include, Fountain Square, Cincinnati, Centerway Square in Corning, New York, Jackson Square, New Orleans, among others.
