Detroit Man Charged in Graffiti Threat Pointed Gun at Repo Man: Prosecutor

The man accused of threatening to kill police in graffiti message allegedly pointed a gun at a man repossessing his truck.

DETROIT, MI — A Detroit man accused of graffiti threats against Police Chief James Craig and other police offices has been charged with two more felonies after allegedly firing a BB-gun at a man at his home on the 1990 block of Exeter Street earlier this month.

Stuart Horatio Lewis, 49, faces new charges of felony assault and firearm, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a news release. He was previously charged with making a threat of terrorism and after he allegedly spray-painted “kill James Craig” and “kill all police” on a commercial building on the 200 block of West State Fair Street on Oct. 20.

The incident with the repossession man occurred on Oct. 17, Worthy said. Authorities allege that when 43-year-old Detroit man came to Lewis’ home with an order to repossess his truck, Lewis confronted him with a BB-shotgun and ordered him to unhook the truck. The repo man left the property and called 911, according to the release.

Lewis was arraigned Thursday on in 36th District Court on charges of felonious assault and felony firearm — pneumatic gun. Magistrate Bari Blake Wood scheduled a probable cause hearing at 8:30 a.m. on Nov 1, and a preliminary examination at 9 a.m. on Nov. 7. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court.

In the graffiti incident, Lewis was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and malicious destruction of a building in addition to the threat of terrorism charge.
