DETROIT — A Detroit mother will spend the next several decades in prison after killing her son and putting his body in a freezer, according to the Wayne County Prosecutors Office.
Police said officers were called to perform a welfare check at a Detroit home on the 12700 block of Monte Vista, near Interstate 96 and Grand River Avenue on the city's west side in June 2022.
Once officers entered the home, the mother was trying to push them away, leading police to believe something was wrong inside the home, according to police.

That's when officers called for a supervisor and found a dead 3-year-old child inside a freezer in the home's basement, according to police.
The medical examiner report said the child died from blunt force head trauma and officials believe his body was placed in the freezer in March 2022.

Azuradee France, 31, was charged with felony murder, child abuse first degree, torture and concealing the death of an individual in connection with the killing a few days later. She was placed in jail with no bond.
She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder earlier this month and the others charges were dismissed. She was sentenced Monday to 35-60 years in prison.
"The alleged facts in this case have astounded even the seriously jaded," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy in a statement about the new sentencing. "Our children continue to be at risk – not just from gun violence but also from the alleged murderer that lives in the house with them."
