Good Samaritan Teen Cheered For Aid In Medical Emergency
Other motorists honked in frustration, but 16-year-old made his mother — and others — proud when he stopped to assist stalled truck driver.

A southeast Michigan teen is getting props for stopping to help a truck driver who, disoriented due to low blood sugar, stopped to help the man at an Oceola Township intersection while other motorists honked impatiently. The Good Samaritan, 16-year-old high school junior Max Greenwood, said he was just practicing the Golden Rule.
The truck driver was stopped at Eager Road near Golf Club Road around 3 p.m. Wednesday when Greenwood happened upon him. The intersection had cleared of traffic, so he knew something was wrong. He thought it might be a mechanical issue, but a closer look showed he was in medical distress. Greenwood told the man to pull his rig over to the side of the road. Two women also stopped to help, offering the man soda to increase his blood sugar while Greenwood called 911.
“If I was in his situation, I would want someone to help me,” Greenwood told The Livingston Daily. “I stopped because I always try and make an effort to help people on the side of the road.

“A few people were honking and a couple of people passed him because they were frustrated he was stopped,” he continued. “I didn't want to just honk and be a dirt bag like that.”
His mother, Mary Pudelko, couldn’t be prouder.

“You preach to your kids that you need to do the right thing, and when he did I was really proud,” she told the newspaper. “In this day and age, when a lot of kids don't think about anyone but themselves, he stepped up and it made a difference.”
