Lake-Effect Snow Creates Hazardous Driving Conditions in SE Michign

Road conditions could deteriorate quickly with bursts of heavy snow, especially in the corridor between M-59 and I-94.

METRO DETROIT, MI — Bursts of heavy snow are creating hazardous driving conditions across southeast Michigan and will continue to do so through 4 p.m., the National Weather Service said in a special weather statement. Affected counties are Oakland, McComb, Wayne, Washtenaw and Livingston.

Lake-effect snow showers are tracking across the area, and the snow showers are heaviest between the M-59 and Interstate 94 corridor. The potential exists for bursts of heavier snow in that area, and could contribue to a quick accumulation of snow on area roads.

Visibility may be reduced to less than a mile, and motorists should be alert for possible changes in driving conditions Thursday afternoon.
