Man Charged In Macomb County Police Chase That Ended On I-94
A man is facing 18 charges after leading police on a wild chase that began in Macomb County and ended in a Detroit crash, police said.

WARREN, MI — A Detroit man is facing 18 charges after leading police on a wild chase that began in Macomb County and ended in a Detroit crash, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.
Michael Antonio Adkins, 26, was charged with one count of fleeing police (5-year felony), 14 counts of assaulting or resisting police and causing injury (4-year felony), one count of assault with a dangerous weapon (4-year felony), one count of reckless driving (93 day misdemeanor) and one count of operating a vehicle without a license (93 day misdemeanor).
Adkins was charged as a habitual fourth offender, which carries an enhanced sentence due to prior convictions. He has previous felony convictions for delivery of cocaine/heroin or other narcotics over 50 grams, possession of controlled substances and evading arrest, police said.

Adkins was placed in jail with a $500,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 28. He is also awaiting trial on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and controlled substance possession.
Officers tried stopping a Chevy Cruze for traffic violations Thursday at 2:40 p.m. near Eight Mile Road and Montrose Avenue in Warren, but the driver sped away, police said.

Officers chased the Cruze for roughly one mile before the Cruze struck multiple Warren police cars and entered westbound Interstate 94, police said.
The driver in the Cruze then struck the center median near Interstate 94 and Woodward Avenue in Detroit and "intentionally" hit other vehicles, police said.
As officers tried arresting the driver of the Cruze, he was shot in the arm by an officer, police said. There were no passengers inside the Cruze.
A Warren officer suffered a non-fatal injury, police said.
Adkins did not have a driver’s license, 19 traffic warrants for his arrest and was wanted for violation of probation out of Wayne County at the time of the incident last week, police said.
