Man Shot By Officers Along I-94 In Detroit After Wild Chase: Police

DETROIT — A man was shot by officers Thursday after a police chase that ended in Detroit, according to Michigan State Police.

The man, whom troopers did not identify, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

Officers tried stopping a Chevy Cruze for traffic violations at 2:40 p.m. near Eight Mile Road and Montrose Avenue in Warren, but the driver sped away, police said.

Officers chased the Cruze for roughly one mile before the Cruze struck multiple Warren police cars and entered westbound Interstate 94, police said.

The driver in the Cruze then struck the center median near Interstate 94 and Woodward Avenue in Detroit and "intentionally" hit other vehicles, police said.

As officers tried arresting the driver of the Cruze, he was shot in the arm by an officer, police said. There were no passengers inside the Cruze.

A Warren officer suffered a non-fatal injury, police said.

No further details were released by police.

Michigan State Police were still investigating the shooting.
