Memorial Day Thrill Seekers Stuck On Michigan Roller Coaster

No one was injured in the incident, but Thunderhawk riders were trapped for about 90 minutes.

A group of thrill seekers got stuck on a rollercoaster at the Michigan Adventure amusement park in Muskegon for about 90 minutes on Memorial Day. The riders were inconvenienced, but were not injured in the incident about 2:30 p.m. Monday.

During the ordeal, the trapped riders were given blankets and ice water until they could be freed, park marketing manager Laure Bollenbach told WZZM-TV. They were also given free tickets to return to the park. The Thunderhawk, a suspended steel roller coaster that simulates flight with speeds of up to 50 mph and heights of 120 feet,features 90-degree vertical climbs, barrel rolls, inverted wing looping and a complete rollover, according to the Michigan Adventure website. It is the first suspended looping roller coaster in the state of Michigan.

The roller coaster did not resume operations Monday, and it’s unclear when it will be reopened.
