Metro Detroit Couple Helps Detroit Resident Keep Home
The local Detroit resident was deemed ineligible for federal pandemic aid because she was buying her home though a land contract.
DETROIT — An anonymous Metro Detroit couple helped pay-off a local Detroit resident's home, after she was declared ineligible to obtain pandemic aid, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Colandra Boyd-Hopson, 51, lost her husband to COVID-19 last year, which made it difficult for her to keep up on her house payments.
Ans since was buying her home through a land contract, she was disqualified from receiving any kind of federal aid during the pandemic.

Then after the Detroit Free Press featured her story in February, an anonymous Metro Detroit couple donated $16,500 to a local nonprofit so she could pay off her land contract and own her home.
