METRO DETROIT — Temperatures will climb toward 80 degrees this week in the metro Detroit area before rounding out with a period of much-needed rain showers, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures in the region will remain in the mid to upper 70s under sunny skies on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, before hitting 80 degrees on Saturday, the weather service said.
Saturday night brings the first rain chances to metro Detroit in nearly a month, the weather service said.

Forecasters expect the rain showers to bleed over into Sunday, becoming more widespread during the afternoon hours when temperatures hit the low 70s in the metro Detroit region, the weather service said.
Temperatures in the region will remain in the 70s Monday and Tuesday, with periodic rain chances, the weather service said.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 75 degrees. North wind 7 to 13 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 18 miles per hour.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74 degrees. North wind 8 to 11 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 18 miles per hour.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78 degrees. North northwest wind 7 to 9 miles per hour.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83 degrees. A chance of showers after 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61 degrees.
Sunday: Showers likely, mainly after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73 degrees.
Monday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 73 degrees.
