More than 300 Women to Gather on International Women's Day

Organizers hope to inspire guests to tap into their own leadership to do more to uplift others.

United Way for Southeastern Michigan Interim CEO Tanya Heidelberg-Yopp, along with DTE vice presidents JoAnn Chavez and Nancy Moody; 36th District Court Judge Roberta Archer; Children's Hospital of Michigan CEO Luanne Ewald; and MGM Grand Executive VP Juliette Okotie-Eboh joined other powerful women for Women United’s 2nd Annual Women of Influence Summit on International Women’s Day, hosted by DTE Energy.

Members of the United Way affinity group (Women United) aimed to raise more than $100,000 to support the organization’s early childhood work, Bib to Backpack. The initiative helps children establish a foundation for lifelong learning with free resources for parents and caregivers to use in their daily lives to prepare their kids for success.

In addition to elevating United Way’s early childhood work, the Women United summit featured a keynote address from Okotie-Eboh, and a fireside chat with Chavez, Ewald, and Judge Archer. WDIV Anchor and Reporter Sandra Ali served as special guest host and emcee.

Organizers sought to inspire guests to tap into their own leadership to do more to uplift others. To encourage immediate action after the summit, each guest received a gift bag with items for children under age five to gift to another mom or caregiver.

The 2nd Annual Women of Influence Summit welcomed nearly 300 women to the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel Detroit on Thursday, March 8, 2018. For more information about Women United, visit UnitedWaySEM.org/WomenUnited.
