U Prep Schools Names Danielle Jackson Interim CEO
With more than 20 years of experience as a K-12 educator, Jackson most recently served as U Prep Schools' chief academic officer

University Prep Schools (U Prep Schools) has named Danielle Jackson as Interim CEO. With more than 20 years of experience as a K-12 educator, Jackson most recently served as U Prep Schools' chief academic officer for the last six years.
She replaces former CEO Mark Ornstein, who was hired in 2013. Ornstein left the organization on January 22 for personal reasons.
“Jackson has the complete confidence of the Detroit 90/90 organization and all stakeholders in our schools as she takes on this new role,” said Vincent DeAngelis, board chair, Detroit 90/90. “Under her leadership we will work to ensure a smooth transition and will continue to deliver the innovative practices and transformational experiences for our students for which we’ve become known, while taking all the necessary steps to complete our long-term CEO strategy.”

Prior to accepting the position of chief academic officer, Jackson held the position of principal of U Prep Academy High School for four years and has taught and led at the elementary and middle school levels. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, as well as a master's degree in educational leadership from Wayne State University.
In addition to her work at U Prep Schools, she is a certified professional coach and has served on the board of directors of a local charter school. A native Detroiter, Jackson understands firsthand the needs of the community U Prep Schools serves.
